A4 Custom Portrait: £160
● Colour-pencil portrait of one pet, on quality artist paper
● Includes UK packaging and postage (add £10 for overseas postage)
● Time frame: allow two weeks from agreed start date.
To Book:
● Query: Email what you’re looking for to booptheart@gmail.com – include the date you’d like to receive the portrait by, keeping in mind the time frame of two weeks, and that it will depend on availability. I’ll do what I can to accommodate you.
● Deposit: Once a date is agreed I ask for a 50% deposit via Paypal to secure your commission.
● Reference photos: Alas, pets are notoriously rubbish at sitting still for hours, so like most portrait artists I work from images. At least three reference photos is ideal. (See photo tips below.)
● Approval: You will have a chance to approve the finished portrait (unless you’d rather it be a surprise!) before making the remaining payment. Then your portrait will be winging its way to you.
Photo Tips:
● Aim for photos taken in natural light, which retain detail even when zoomed in.
● The best angles are looking directly at the camera, or to the side while still retaining a clear view of their face.
● If there is a particular image you’d like me to base the portrait on, let me know.
● Consider photos that capture your pet’s most familiar personality. It’s fine if they are making the same face in more than one photo as this helps me get a sense of what their ‘classic’ expressions are.
● If taking a photo especially for the portrait, and your pet refuses to look at the camera (because they jolly well seem to know what we’re up to), making an unfamiliar, high-pitched noise as you take the shot often works for me!
● And if in doubt, just ask! I’m always happy to help.
Please note:
● I don’t include backgrounds in my portraits. My style is to capture animals from the chest up, focusing on the character in their faces.
● The deposit is non-refundable, not only to cover me once work has begun but because this payment blocks out the time and prevents me from accepting other commissions during that period. Thank you for understanding.
● Your portrait will be delivered in a protective cardboard sleeve inside a plain, reinforced hard-backed envelope.
